Moana

The film Moana was directed by Ron Clements, John Musker, Don Hall, and Chris Williams.

Writing credits goes to the producers Jared Bush, Pamela Ribon, Aaron Kandell and Jordan Kandell. Some of the main characters are Moana, Maui, Gramma Tala and Chief Tui; voiced in that order by Auli'i Cravalho, Dwayne Johnson, Rachel house and Temuera Morrison. It was released November 23, 2016, it made $56,631,401 that night domestically. Domestically it grossed $248,757,044, internationally it made $394,593,954 and world wide it made $643,350,998. I read the review of Christy Lemire titled Moana, rated at 3.5 stars. The author said this about the film, “Moana would have been enormously entertaining regardless of when it came out, but its arrival at this particular moment in history gives it an added sense of significance—as well as inspiration.” The review focuses on the differences that Moana brings with her story and appearance.

The film Moana, shows that regardless of gender one should go out and adventure the world. Moana since when she was a toddler had a desire to go out to the sea and travel. She wished to learn more and see all that was out there. Her parents believed it was safest to stay on the reef and just become the chief of their village. It is until Moana decides she will go on a trip to sea to save her village from the environmental hazards created by Te Fiti’s discomfort. At (00:31:14) she sings, “ Now I can’t turn back from the great unknown”; she sets off to find Maui and return Te Fiti’s heart. This is where her journey begins to save her village. This film is connected to the film we have previously annotated, Beauty and the Beast, they focus on strong female characters that have missions they wish to fulfill. Regardless, of the ideas placed on them they choose to follow their own path.
